Located in Jigani, Bangalore, this industrial facility was envisioned as a cohesive ecosystem — where manufacturing, coating, and research for precision tools could coexist within a single, efficient framework.
With access along the north-east edge, the narrow site demanded clarity in planning and movement. The design achieves this through a layered entry sequence in which office staff and visitors are received through a landscaped forecourt, while service and vehicular flows are discreetly channelled to maintain uninterrupted operations.
The form is defined by two structural grids that separate load-intensive areas from lighter-use zones, optimising both material use and performance. Inside, the industrial floors are arranged in an open, flexible layout that follows evolving production processes while maintaining visual and operational continuity.
Offices and coworking areas are provided with road frontage, where a glazed façade shaded by screens filters diffused light into workspaces and circulation areas. In contrast, the manufacturing zones remain enclosed behind opaque surfaces, shielding them from dust and heat.
The terrace above houses dining and activity areas that open to the surrounding views — a counterpoint to the industrious rhythm below.
Designing industrial spaces is all about striking a balance between precision and adaptability, structure and openness, efficiency and experience. At its core, this project explores this equilibrium.
